Q: Which model for 24v (six 170w 12v pv in series/parallel) 1020 watt pv array, max open circuit voltage 135v, charging six 12v sla in series/parallel?
A: It is recommended that you use a 40A MPPT controller, 24V battery bank. Connect three solar panels in series and then connect the two groups in parallel. If you have 6*12V battery, it is recommended to divide it into 2 series in series, and then 3 groups in parallel to form 24V. Under the 24V system, the 40A controller can handle solar panels up to 1040W. (The total VOC of the solar panel should not exceed 150V (138V at 25 temperature))Warm Tips: 1. Always connect the battery before connect the solar panel, disconnect in reverse order. 2. Make sure your battery has enough voltage for the controller to recognize the battery voltage 3.DO NOT connect any inverters, generator or battery charger into the charge controller. If an inverter is to be connected to the system, connect the inverter directly to the battery. 4. A fuse which current is 1.25 to 2 times the rated current of the controller, must be installed on the battery side with a distance from the battery not greater than 150 mm. 5. The controller is negative ground, any device of the system, even the communication device, can only be negative grounded or not grounded. see less
Q: Is 800 watts of 12 volt solar input too much or will it clip the power input?

However the software must be downloaded from the Epever site. The bulk, absorbtion, and float charge values will have to be taken from the battery manufacturers product data. Hope this helps
Q: Is the 30 a version nominal for a 1500 watt inverter?
A: EAN-MARIE SEBATUMITSI is right. They have nothing to do with one another. Warm Tips: 1. Always connect the battery before connect the solar panel, disconnect in reverse order. Make sure your battery has enough voltage for the controller to recognize the battery type 3. DO NOT connect any inverters, generator or battery charger into the load terminal of the charge controller. If an inverter is to be connected to the system, connect the inverter directly to the battery, not to the load side of the controller. 4. A fuse which current is 1.25 to 2 times the rated current of the controller, must be installed on the battery side with a distance from the battery not greater than 150 mm.
Q: Title of product states "Negative ground" but in the description states "Positive ground", so how dose one ground this controller in a home?
A: I have mine installed over 2 years now. Since i have battery storage, and solar panels, it is easy to just attach positive and negatives where indicated. As for the mention of a "positive ground" I took that to mean that you have to attach a ground wire to the Ground Screw provided located just the left of the MT 50 connection point at the bottom of the unit. So I connected a wire from that point to a ground inside my electric panel which is right next store. That is, making 'positive ground'. That is how mine is hooked up and runs flawlessly. I also love the MT-50 Meter for the info it provides. For me, it is a great system
Q: Is it water proof?
A: No it is not. The connections are located in the bottom of a cast aluminum housing. I would keep the entire system as far away from water as possible.
Q: can you run 4 -160 watt solar panels with this mppt 40 amp charge controller
A: Yes. you can. The input open circuit voltage should not exceed 150V(138V at 25℃) This charge controller can handle up to 520W in 12v system, 1040W in 24V system. Warm Tips: 1. Always connect the battery before connect the solar panel, disconnect in reverse order. 2.DO NOT connect any inverters, generator or battery charger into the charge controller. If an inverter is to be connected to the system, connect the inverter directly to the battery.
Q: Can i use this controller for lithium lifepo4 battery?
A: No, it can't. If you want for lithium lifepo4 battery, you should buy Tracer 3210AN series, How to program for Lithium Battery? 1. Via PC (Accessories needed:RS485), software download website: EPever official website or look for in the manualV 2. Via phone APP (Accessories needed:Ebox-Wifi or Ebox-Blue) The old software download from: EPever official website, iOS system: search Epever on APP store (but the old software can not chose the Lithium battery type, fit for lead-acid battery)
Q: Will this unit accept 24v pv input to charge one large 12v battery, or do i have to buy 12v pv panel(s)?
A: You can run residential panels, one of the reasons I bought it. I have over 75 volts and eventually 1,200 watts of solar (4 310 watt panels) going to this charge controller, and I happen to be charging a 24 volt battery, but it will charge a 12 volt battery no problem, but only 500 watts for 12 volt. 12 volts X 41 amps = 492 watts. 24 volts X 41 amps = 984 watts. My battery will reach 28 volts, so 1,148 watts. I'm over paneled (wattage exceeds the amp rating at 1,240 watts of panels), but others have gotten by with it, but I don't have it all together yet. So you do NOT need to find 12 volt panels. I would stay under 100 volts for a comfortable margin of safety. Rated for 150 volts, but why push it? I'm not an electrician, just a guy working on a diy solar project
Q: how do you program the controller?
A: 1. Via PC (Accessories needed:RS485-150U), 2. Via phone APP (Accessories needed:Ebox-Wifi or Ebox-Blue) Software download website: EPEVER official website or look for in the manual
Q: Do you recommend i connect a 350a electrical protection anl fuse 350 amp with fuse holder between 1-200ah battery and my inverter? what do you suggest
A: it is recommended to connect a fuse between each electrical appliance. The current of the fuse depends on the direct current of your inverter and battery
Q: Can you charge your battery bank with a regular wall outlet with this unit? I notice the area on the unit for load in, so is this for wall outlet ?
A: No, the input voltage of the controller is solar energy(it must be a DC power supply.) Please always connect the battery before connect the solar panle, disconnect in reverse order.
Q: can the Tracer 4215BN Support any units in parallel to expand system
A: can the Tracer 4215BN Support any units in parallel to expand system
Q: can the Tracer 4215BN Support any units in parallel to expand system
A: No, only the same type of controller can be connected in parallel. You can connect two or four 4215BN charge controller to the batteries bank in parallel, but do not share PV Panels. Dedicate a number of PV panels to each controller. The controller of the system should be the same model, and the model and quantity of the solar panels of each group should be the same.
Q: can you hook this epever 4215-BN- 40- up with 270w x 2 -24 volt panels with a 12 volt battery bank"
A: I used two 12 volt deep cycle batteries wired in series and it worked fine. I have since switched to lithium-ion and I like it much better.

designed 1600 watt solar system for my RV.
It consists of two 800 watt arrays. I need to determine the best configuration for the panels to size the controll(s). I am using 200w PVs.

Liked the ease of setup and accessories it came with. The instructions were pretty detailed although require some knowledge to understand fully. Used for a 2000 watt Pv system for an off grid cabin. Plenty of features also. Unsure of longevity as it has been in use for only 1 month. Price was more than fair for what you get and the quality. I’m happy with my purchase.

It has been installed a week now. It works great even when there is less than desirable sun light. I only gave it four stars because the Icon for the battery shows half even on a full charge. You have to pay attention to the voltage.I think they decided to start it at half because you typically only run the batteries to half depth of discharge. That's just my opinion.

I now have two units. This charger semi-pro features at lowest price. I like the auto-detect voltage and plug-and-play, zero config install. To get best results, use the remote or PC software to configure. PC configuration is a little hard to understand, but it works. RS-485 with Mac or Linux will require non-factory adapter and 2-wire custom cable on RJ-45 pins 4&5. Google for the PDF of protocol document.

This is my 2nd 1. The 1st last about 2 years & conked out. Fortunately I got an extended warranty that reimbursed me. So I needed a back up in case my Victrons crapped out & the 2 I have of them died within a couple days of each other so this is getting used for now but I'm getting error msg's that aren't mentioned in the user manual & that frustrates me that I don't know what it means but it still functions despite those warnings. I just wish this company would make a more comprehensive manual & as you'll see in some reviews, these aren't tanks & a lot of issues mentioned after just a brief use period so get some insurance on these, you'll more than likely have to use it.
