Hybrid Solar Systems

What is a hybrid solar system?

Hybrid solar panel systems are a combination of grid-tied and storage-ready devices that provide a consistent energy supply throughout the day and night.

After installing solar panels, the energy they produce needs to be converted into electricity for your home. There are a few ways to do this - you can stay connected to the grid, go completely off the grid, or have a hybrid system.

A hybrid system is one where your solar panels remain connected to the power lines of the grid and have a backup battery system to store excess power. The solar energy absorbed by the solar panels generates usable electricity through an inverter. From there, electricity either goes into your home, into your battery or into the grid.

Hybrid solar systems work by sending solar energy to your inverter, which then sends the energy to power your home. The extra energy not used to power your home goes into your home battery for storage.

Benefits of a Hybrid Solar System:

  • Hybrid solar systems are a great way to control power. You can be your own energy provider with solar panels and battery backup and add a safety net to the grid.
  • A hybrid solar system will save you money by reducing your electricity bill, which makes the higher up-front system cost worthwhile. So while you won't see those net metered credits on your utility bill, you'll still get the same value of electricity.
  • The hybrid solar system is unique in that you'll be protected from inclement weather and nighttime use.
  • A hybrid solar system is the best way to ensure you never run out of power.
