XTRA Series  MPPT solar charge controller

XTRA series are advanced maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controllers, for off-grid photovoltaic systems, with optional display units (XDB1/XDS1/XDS2).In order to maximize the energy harvest from PV arrays and simultaneously minimize the power loss within a wide range of operating conditions, the XTRA series apply an advanced smart algorithm which results in up to 30% higher efficient charging, compared to a conventional pulse width modulation (PWM) charge controller. Xtra series controller has a limit protection function on charging current &charging power, as well as auto derating power operation at high temperature; the above protection ensures the stability of the system even at exceeded rated PV power and over-temperature conditions. Protection class IP32 and isolated RS485 communication port further improve the controller's reliability under dierent application requirements.XTRA series controllers incorporate a self-adaptive three-stage charging algorithm based on a digital control circuit, which effectively prolongs the lifespan of the battery and significantly improves the system performance. It also has extensive electronic protection for overcharge, over-discharge, PV&battery reverse polarity and etc. to ensure the sustainability and durability of the o-grid solar system.

Manual Control (default)

  • Control ON/OFF of the load via the button or remote commands (e.g., APP or PC software).

Light ON/OFF

  • Set your own's turn ON/OFF voltage, once your solar panel's voltage reaches this value, your load will ON/OFF
  • ON voltage=sunset; OFF voltage=sunrise

Light ON+ Timer

  • After loading ON according to the voltage you set, you can set how long your load keeps working. e.g. 101: Load will be ON about 1 hour after sunset
  • Two working time periods can be set, the setting range is 101~115 and 201~215
  • 201 means Load will be ON about 1 hour before sunrise

Time Control

  • Control the load ON/OFF time by setting the real-time clock.

TIPS WHEN WIRING YOUR SOLAR CHARGE CONTROLLER

  1. Turn the adjusting terminal counterclockwise, Insert your wire into the new opening between the plate and the "top" of the terminal hole.
  2. Make sure your battery must be at least 60% charged prior to connecting to the controller, or the controller can't read your battery correctly.
  3. Connect the battery to the controller first!! (When LCD power is on, means the controller reads the battery successfully, if not please reconnect it.)
  4. Connect your solar panel array to the controller after Controller's LCD power is on.
  5. Never connect your solar panel array to the controller when the LCD display doesn't power on(Which means your battery does not connect successfully).
  6. Careful your input power and voltage does not exceed the max. When the maximum open-circuit voltage of the photovoltaic array exceeds 92V (when Ambient temperature 25°C/77°F), the controller will be damaged.
  7. Do not reverse the polarity when wiring or the controller will be damaged.
  8. Lithium batteries setting only can be parameterized via Phone APP or PC software. (Accessories optional, doesn't include)
  9. When the battery type is an ordinary lead-acid battery, the controller does not have the function of low-temperature protection.
  10. When the battery type is a lithium-ion battery, the controller does not have the system voltage recognition function. Need set the battery‘s correct voltage and type via the mobile APP or computer software before use.

The controller is excellent, but who has a micro solar station keep in mind that at small current input it works at a loss, where then with a 950ma works one to one. Most importantly shows the entrance from the panels ostensibly 300 Ma, and output 400, actually vice versa-input 400, and output 300mA, but after one ampere the readings are very, to say that the controller is bad, the controller is perfect, brand, and works on normal panels well, If you need a controller for a mini station, take here the same win500 MPPT-super controller, works with small currents, probably put it back. And this one's great anyway.
