How Much Electricity Does a Home Solar System Produce?

To determine the amount of energy that the grid tie PV system will be able to produce on a yearly basis, you will need to design and install it. Let's use the roof of a 60m2 house as an example for our calculations.

It will suffice if every family roof measures 60 square meters. How much power can be set up on a roof covering 60 square meters? Are there enough panels to generate enough power each day to power a home?

A household solar power system usually uses monocrystalline silicon panels or polycrystalline silicon panels. In general, it is rated at 36V 280W with 1.8 m2 of surface area per panel. There are parallel and series connections between each solar panel. During installation, the correct inclining angle and lighting direction should be selected. Further, each solar panel group should be staggered with a certain distance, preventing mutual stacking and sun sheltering. For the time being, it is recommended to reserve a passage for easy cleaning and maintenance of the solar panel array. The solar panel arrangements they recommend are as follows: there should be 20 spots for solar panels on a roof of 60m2. There are 36 PV modules in total, and their area is 36 square meters. The installed PV capacity is 5.6kW.

What is the energy produced by the solar panels each day? A solar panel's efficiency at converting photons to electricity is mostly determined by the amount of sun it receives, the amount of sunlight during the day, and its mounting angle.

When standard test conditions are met, a solar panel's photoelectric conversion efficiency is measured by comparing the maximum output power the solar panel can produce to the solar power that is reflected from that panel. The photoelectric conversion efficiency of polycrystalline silicon cell modules and monocrystalline silicon cell modules is usually not less than 15.5% and 16.5%, respectively.

Accordingly, under standard sunlight conditions (1000W/m2) the solar array has a real power output of 5.6kW/0.16=3.5kW. Solar power can be generated in a day of 21kWh if the optimal 6 hours (10:00-16:00) are considered when calculating solar effective generation time. According to this calculation, it generates 5040kWh of PV power if 240 days in a year (20 days per month of effective solar power generation) are included.

In order to make this calculation, ideal conditions must be met. In addition to the type, installation, and maintenance of the solar kits like brackets, solar inverters, and other components, the actual energy generated by a solar energy system is also affected by temperature, weather, and other factors.

For the solar system to function, the bracket for the panels is essential. PV systems need to be installed on roof structures which have a high bearing capacity. If the house cannot meet the specifications, the support must be reinforced to protect the unborn children and other residents. Furthermore, prior to the installation of the bracket, the roof waterproofing and coating must be maintained. Also, trees and buildings surrounding the house will can directly affect the efficiency and effective time of the solar panels to receive and convert solar energy.

Solar power systems connect to the grid with either 380V/400V/415V/440V/460V/480V three-phase AC or 110V/120V/220V/220V/230V/240V single phase. The ideal power inverters used on a single-phase grid are usually those of 1kW, 3kW, and 5kW. In order to maximize grid-tie inverter performance, three-phase inverters must be over 10kW.
